PHOTOGRAPHER
I am a practicing visual artist based on the NSW South Coast. My practice is varied including traditional styles of travel, landscape and portrait photography, as well as fine art photography.
My area of research for my PhD explores the use of semiotics and formalist film theory in the construction and analysis of narrative based cinematic photographs to see how they can influence an aesthetic value and convey meaning.
It also explores how "constructed realities" in cinematic photographs through the use of composites and small scale built dioramas, challenge perception and the theoretical concepts of realism and indexicality.
